In February 1986, Samuel Johnson and Ruben Harpole invited 12 individuals in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to gather at Saint Matthew CME Church to "brainstorm" solutions to pending problems in the city.  This committee decided that more voices should be invited, and the meetings should be continued each month.   After that initial meeting, Commun

In February 1986, Samuel Johnson and Ruben Harpole invited 12 individuals in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to gather at Saint Matthew CME Church to "brainstorm" solutions to pending problems in the city.  This committee decided that more voices should be invited, and the meetings should be continued each month.   After that initial meeting, Community Brainstorming Conference was born and has continued for over 33 years.

Every fourth Saturday of the month breakfast is served at 8:00 a.m. Guest can enjoy eggs, bacon, sausage, grits, toast, juice and coffee.  The panel discussions begin at 9:00 a.m.

Over 20,000 attendees and over 400 sessions, Community Brainstorming Conference has great pride in its inclusiveness, programming integrity, and active solutioning in the Milwaukee community.   CBC is known to be successful in amplifying the voice of the voiceless and bringing visibility to the invisible. With such an extensive outreach in the community, rising leaders acknowledged and celebrated with The James Howard Baker Award and the “Ordinary People Doing Extraordinary Things Award”.
